Alice Ann Land 1931-2014
Alice Ann Land
Born 6/28/1931 – 7/24/2014
Alice Ann Land, age 83 of Yuma, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Casa de la Luz in Tucson, Arizona.
John and Alice had an adventurous and wonderful life together. His work with law enforcement took them to places all over the country from St. Louis to El Paso to Chicago to Yuma to Douglas to New York and returned to Yuma to retire. John and Alice were soul mates, married for a glorious 59 years. Their relationship was amazing as their respect and love was genuine. Alice worked for many companies, the railroad in St. Louis, Yuma School District One and retired from Arizona Public Service Company in Yuma. She took one golf lesson to see what was so special about hitting a ball with a stick and quickly became passionate about the game. She spent most of her time on the golf course. John and Alice logged well over 2,000 hours viewing the golf network - a year.
Alice was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Howard and Vina Jones. She had one brother and two sisters. Alice was an avid Cardinal fan. Alice was a member of the Yuma Women’s Golf Association. She loved to play golf, scrabble and poker – and the only wild card was her.
John was by her side for 194 days of her journey, each day he walked in the room, her face lit up as it has for the past 59 years.
She was a wonderful mother to Tony and Tom and Karen’s best friend forever.
Alice is survived by her husband John, sons Tony (Lynette) and Tom (Carolyn) Land, daughter Karen King (Jay Marr), grandchildren: Jennifer, Tyler, Mara and Johnny Land, Lindsay and Karli King, great granddaughter Azalea King-Thomas, sister Mildred Jones Clark, longtime friends, Sally Homeyer, Marion Wolpert, Audrey Tellie, Bob, Lisa, Emily and Sarah Hite, Clyde, Betsy, Judy, Jim Cuming and all the funky farmers, her good friend Donna Downing, her wonderful friends at the Yuma Golf and Country Club, and numerous friends and family all over the country. It’s been a wonderful life.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me but also to all who have longed for His appearing.”
